How to See Deleted WhatsApp Messages on iPhone (2026)

Updated 18 September 2026 · Infinito Chat guides

Most “see deleted WhatsApp messages” tips are for Android: they rely on notification history, which iPhone doesn't have. Once a notification is gone on iPhone, iOS doesn't keep a copy. Here's what does work on iPhone.

1. iCloud backup (only for older messages)

If the message arrived before your last WhatsApp iCloud backup (WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Chat backup shows the date), deleting and reinstalling WhatsApp and restoring that backup can bring it back. Everything newer than the backup is lost, so this is only worth it for something important.

2. Save to Photos (for photos and videos)

With WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Save to Photos turned on, received photos and videos are copied to your iPhone's Photos app. That copy usually stays even after the sender deletes the message. It doesn't help with text.

3. Anti-Delete (texts, photos, videos, statuses)

Anti-Delete by Infinito Chat links to WhatsApp as a Linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does, so it works on iPhone with nothing to install. It keeps a copy of each message as it arrives. When someone deletes one, you can read the original in your Anti-Delete list.

  1. Create an account with your WhatsApp number.
  2. On your iPhone: WhatsApp → Settings → Linked devices → Link a device, then scan the code or enter the pairing code.
  3. Deleted messages appear with who sent them, where and when.

Limit: it only saves messages that arrive after you link it.
